Providing context on the movement.

Hey, everyone tuning in here on Bossa!

This is Shavozo (DJ, producer, bass machine), and it’s a pleasure to introduce a project that’s filling us with pride: our compilation MEPB - Brazilian Plural Electronic Music.

Along with Flying Buff and Ruxell, I took a tour around Brazil, celebrating funk as electronic music, and brought together producers who stand out for their diversity.

The MEPB represents, in our view, some of the most interesting sounds coming out of Brazil, produced by DJs from backgrounds that are almost always marginalized—whether due to gender, region, or the stigma funk faces.

That’s why it’s incredibly rewarding for us to see this compilation soon to be released (mark it down: December 6), with artists like DJ Eva from LC, a trans artist from the interior of Maranhão, blending mandelão and funk carioca in the single “Melodia TRANScendental.”

We also feature DJ Bassan, a prominent name from the BH scene, and Jeska, a DJ from the countryside of Bahia, who fuses pagodão with reggaeton in “Dale.”

Our first single, “Piquezin de Rave,” dropped in September and captures it all. Produced by Ruxell, a major figure in Brazilian pop, this “MEPB” encapsulates the history of electronic music in Brazil, from funk parties and raves to bass br.

Follow the release on social media, and get to know these amazing talents who may not yet be mainstream but have the potential to become the soundtrack of your party.

Cheers!
